Deviation

Concluding (for now) the earlier Belorussian theme, Deviation is interesting and has more range than the previous two selections. In fact, the lead singer actually sings. Imagine.

Cuba punk rocker spared jail term

Cuba punk rocker spared jail term:
A court in Havana, Cuba, has ordered a punk rock musician to pay a fine of $30 (£15) for public disorder for playing his band's music too loud.

However, Gorki Aguila was cleared of a more serious charge that could have led to a jail sentence.

The lead singer of band Porno Para Ricardo is known for songs that ridicule Cuba's communist government.

He had faced a possible four year term in prison for the crime known in Cuba as social dangerousness.

The controversial law allows the jailing of people who the authorities believe have been displaying behaviour that would indicate they could be on the verge of committing a crime.

Dissent

Continuing with the Belorussian theme, here's another great band called Dissent, and they even sing in English. Includes a cover of Minor Threat's Filler. It's good/bad solid H.C. Punk. Check it out.

Antiglobalizator

Even though I don't speak Belorussian (at least I assume), I really can't get enough of this band. Antiglobalizator, from Belarus, features both male anf female vocals, and they sound really pissed off. They also really rock hard. Unfortunately, these tracks download at a glacial speed (not to mention frequent time outs), which would probably discourage most people. (Check out the source Here.) Therefore, I'm going to offer it here. Spread the word.

The Creeps

Here's a gem I came across a few years back by somebody calling themselves The Creeps. I don't know anything about the band. I am also not going to name the song. You'll understand if you download the song and listen to it. Who needs that kind of trouble? Whatever.

The Fall - Live at Victoria University NZ 9-8-1982

The Fall, at least for the first eight years or so, is my favorite band in the world. The band, based in Manchester England, has been around since the mid-1970s. One of the things I appreciate about the earlier era of The Fall is the syncopation. Since the 1980s, The Fall has experienced dozens of different line-ups. It might be the longest lasting of the original Punk/New Wave, and certainly has produced more albums than almost anyone else. The only constant (although he doesn't necessarily sing on every track) is frontman Mark E. Smith. Since the min-1980s, The Fall has basically been his project. Some of the later stuff I like; others not so much.

Anyway, this first direct download features a live "album" from 1982 that was once featured on the The Unofficial Fall Website (which at the time was the official website). The link is now dead, but you can now get it here. I also tried to enhance it a bit.

Drunk And Armed - The Hippo Tumor Mixes

As of now, this blog, besides trolling the internet for music downloads, will start presenting original music downloads on occasion. You'll know the difference, because I'll actually write a little something about the downloads. For my first two such posts, the offering will be music for which I played a part.

The Hippo Tumor Mixes are the product of several demo tapes made by Drunk And Armed in 2000 & 2001 (except for the first track which was recorded in 2004), and represents my first efforts at re-mixing. The Hippo Tumor name was taken from a documentary on the Discovery Channel. The cover photo, above, was taken in the Skagit Valley, which is known for its fertile crop lands, in winter.
